Over the years I have had a great time, especialy with my band APEX. During our time we had the pleasure (Well, sometimes not!) of playing with, and meeting some of the great's in the music industry. During my solo career, I have met some great and interesting people and have been lucky enough to have learned alot from them.
My Keyboard player in my band "Apex" - JOHN WATT - Was a great mentor to me.
He taught me how to conduct myself on stage, how to approach an audience and
was somewhat of a father figure to me. As a result, I have some very fond memories of him.
Thanks John! Some old photo's are in my gallery - excuse the quality, although they have been retouched a little they are a still 'prehistoric' in terms of todays digital media!!
To John-Michael-Ziggy-Neil Mackie-Shannon.........
Thanks for a great time!

Dougie Munro comes from Stirling in Scotland.
At the age of 15 he learned to play guitar, by the age of 17 he had formed a band called Apex, and was touring all over the UK, pleasing thousands of fans where ever they went.
Apex released two albums, one of which became very successful, and earned the band a lot of radio play!
15 years ago Dougie Munro began a solo career which took him to Abu Dhabi in the Middle East, then to New York and most of southern Europe.
Dougie is now based in the Costa Blanca Southern Spain and is embarking on a tour of Europe.

Recorded In The Stray Sod

IS HE MIMING?
Strange as it may seem, this is a question that I get asked quite alot and I see it as rather flattering!! I mean, it would be all too easy for Dougie to take offence and say that maybe those that ask this question are ignorant, or tone deaf, or jealous or any number of other things. However, when it comes down to it, Dougie likes to take the positive approach and think "Do they think my show is that good that it's a
pre-recorded studio track that I'm playing?" - I've known and worked with Dougie for the best part of 20 years now and here's the truth : All, and I really do mean ALL, of his backing tracks are made by Dougie at Blue Hills Audio Pro Recording Studio! He own's and runs this Studio and is a qualified engineer. This means that not only does he know how to play the instruments that you hear at his shows, he knows how to make them sound good in a recording studio which is a whole different area of expertise and knowledge! If he wanted a vocal backing track on them he can do that too but he prefers to keep his music as 'live' as possible. In short, if you want unequivocal proof of his abilities there is one very simple test -
Ask him to play acoustic!!
Take care and enjoy the music

January 9th 1982 was the saddest day of my life. that was the day my mum died while holding my hand. She had sent my sister away. And just before! she was trying to get me to go ice skating with my friends but, I said no! I will stay until dad gets back from the chemist. Well! Dad never came back and MUM died.. I was Distraught. But, there was nothing I could do, I was 15........ I was taken into care where, to cut a long story short, I learned to play guitar from one of my social workers. Then I remember one of the other kids mum brought me an old guitar as a gift! Waw! I was made up. It was a Hofner! Acoustic, probably was worth a few quid! The Long and short of it is, I spent many years learning what was to become my trade. I since learned to play allot more instruments in my current show. My mum was an amazing powerfull singer and she sang in the clubs all over the uk, and unknown to me at the time, she Was to be my ultimate inspiration.
She always sung at party's,new year, infact ,any occasion at all my mum was always asked to sing. My mum was 52 when she died (no age at all) she was at her peak!
At the time of writing this I am nearly 43. It scares me to think I could only 9 years left!
Food for thought!

I'll meet thee on the lea-rig, My ain kind Dearie O.
